01-07-2006 - European Tour - July 2006 |
Kevin Johansen has just ended his European tour, where he presented his
latest album “City Zen”. During the entire month of July he toured
Spain, where he already has numerous fans and played at several full
house concerts. He also participated in two main festivals of the
Spanish Summer season, Conde Duque in Madrid, and El Grec in Barcelona.
He also played at Zaragoza, Gijón and Málaga. The Madrid show had an
additional charm, as he invited his friend Jorge Drexler to share the
stage with him for a couple of songs.
The tour continued in Eslovaquia a the Pohoda mega festival, that takes
place at an abandoned airport in the city of Trencin. There he ran into
fellow artists from Argentina “Bajo Fondo Tango Club” which were also
performing that evening at the same venue.
In Germany he toured many cities, promoting the release of his album in
that country. The Berlin show took place at “Quasimodo”, a local jazz
and world music joint, in front of a mixed crowd of both Germans and
Latinos that sang enthusiastically to his tunes (specially “Daisy”,
“Cumbiera Intelectual”, and Desde que te Perdi”). Among the audience
was a new admirer of his music, Pau Donés, the lead singer of Jarabe de
Palo, who is temporarily living in Berlin. Other cities toured
included: Hagen, Koblenz, Halle and Lorrach, where he also participated
of the prestigious Stimmen festival.
On his way back he stopped in New York to attend the LAMC (Latin
Alternative Music Conference), and is expected to start recording his
new album upon his return to Buenos Aires.
